Post your comments here on the NCAA Women's BBall .

The Lady Vols rolled over Pepperdine yesterday 89-57 to start their season.

What was interesting is Meighan Simmons didn't start...don't know if it was a disciplinary measure or not but she did play scoring 13.  Glory Johnson led the way with 17.

Pat Summit is already giving her assistants more responsibility as she has turned over addressing the media to Asst Head Coach Holly Warlick who may very well become head coach when Summit does retire.

Tomorrow the Lady Vols get their first real test as they play 7th ranked Miami.

Went to the Vols link. And I have to say that was the neatest highlight video. Plays a music video with no commentary. But it was a great way to get the highlights of the game. Glory Johnson reminds me of Syl. She said in her interview that they practice against guys. That's how you prepare for the WNBA!

That Lady Vols/Miami game is gonna be televised on ESPN2!

I'm anxious to see if Meighan Simmons will start because she didn't start against Pepperdine.  Seems she was off the bench against Pepperdine to emphasize he need to play defense.

You have Glory Johnson and Stricklen against Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams. This is gonna b a game to watch because both teams are trying to make a statement!!!

Also the UT freshman Ariel Massengale (Bolling Brook IL), is one to watch!!!

Check her out:

The Vols have a fancy PDF newspaper in the notes section for today's game on their website.    The game is on at 4p central. 11/15/2011.    T Woodie's YouTube link shows HS ball but it was hard to tell since the commentators were referring to national ranks. Didn't know they did that for HS.It could easily be community college by the caliber of play.

Do you believe this Ariel Massengale kid??? WOW!!! Just what the Dr. ordered for UT!!! She's terrific!!!

Had Glory Johnson and Vickie Baugh not got into foul trouble early 3rd qtr...this is a blowout!!!

UT is a much quicker team this year than last year...BY FAR!!!

Freshman Harrison is also very good .

What's strange for UT this year is not seeing the size advantage UT was known for...Pat has gone with quickness and they are quick.

Still think the LadyVols are gonna be a waste Jimmy??? LOL

You can see Pat has yielded to her assistants more!

Nice to see such an interest in the Lady Vols here.

They don't have the size of Kelly Cain this season, but they are a very fast team this year with the speed of Johnson, Massengale and Simmons, if they can play under control they will be playing for the championship in Denver.  I'm looking forward to seeing a healthy Vicki Baugh play this season.

Tonight's game against Miami was sloppy, but it's early in the season. Once the Lady Vols have a few more games for their chemistry to gel, I expect to see a much more composed and controlled team.

It was a little strange seeing Pat on the outside of the huddle during a couple of the time-outs. As Kara Lawson said during the game, she has better defined the roles of her assistants. With the collective basketball knowledge, coaching and winning experience the assistants have, imo, Pat is being very smart in the way she is using their collective abilities to help her lead this team.

Go Lady Vols.

I agree Vickilz!!  The Lady Vols have good speed this year and better scoring balance!

Spani, Simmons, Massengale and Stricklen all shot the 3 well and can all take off the dribble...a nightmare for their opponents.

Johnson, Baugh, and Harrison can control the boards pretty well.

They really need to work on playing under control and playing together!

Circle Nov 27th on your calendar...that day they play Baylor!!!

The athleticism on this team reminds me of the years "The Meeks" at Tennessee.  While we don't have the size in the post this season, the talent and passion on this team is amazing. This is a team where the bench is as good as the starters so there will be little if any decline in the level of play when starts get their rest.

How about the maturity of Massengale??? That young lady is a true PG!!!

Now I understand why Simmons comes of the bench. Messengale can really run that offense. She does have to mature even more but she's a jewel!

UT has excellent depth in the backcourt but I want to see more from Harrison and Burdick who are both freshmen...they need to get playing time now so they have experience going into the tourney  There was a drop off when Baugh and Johnson got in foul trouble. Harrison looked pretty good out there.

The UT guards with size...Spani, Simmons, and Stricklen are gonna be the nucleus of this team. All are 5' 9" or better!

The Baylor game is going to be a true measuring rod of this team. They'll need good ball movement because it's a fact Baylor wants to force teams to go inside where Griner dominates. The Lady Vols perimeter game has to be on!
