Well, Young has not proven a whole lot as far as I'm concerned. Looking at skill sets, Young needs a lot of offensive work as well and she's going on 5 or 6 years in the league.

Are you going to pay big money for a player going to a backup role?
Next year she's a UFA, so you either have to lock her up with a multi-year guaranteed contract now, core her next year (and I think you might have to pay a little over the max for coring), or let her walk next year. Wouldn't it be better to trade a player with these kind of complications (if you even can find a trade) for a promising new player?

c'mon shades, throw a trade proposal out there, who on the team has trade value, (but it can't involve Sylvia, prince or cash).

This is probably what it comes down to. I don't know of any team that would trade a good backup for a player who hasn't played a single minute in the league.

mavcarter, I know Young is a favorite player for some. She can play for short times at a very high intensity and that's why she get's called as playing better off the bench. Maybe if she takes up long distance running the intensity of play could be maintained. Detractors are probably stuck on the endurance issue.      As regards new players, they could at least go against and be compared with our own WNBA players before signing. Maybe during a visit before drafting if such thing is allowed. Thanks everybody for any help as to whether this is possible.
In the long run. It's better to have a bad outcome doing things right.Than a good one doing things wrong.

What fans must understand, players must do what their coach tell them to do. Young was brought strictly to Chi for her defense. She's doing a great job with that. The coach is the one that gives them the green light on different areas/plays.
