Some notes on last nights game--
Happy homecoming for Sloot and she didn't disappoint family & Gonzaga fans attending the game. Got those 21 points with 8 assts. and covered Sue Bird like a blanket. She put the clamps on the Storm's run in the 4th. by scoring 7 points in a row followed by two assists for 4 more to give the Sky a "can't catch us" ending. EDD goes 10 points plus 11/11 FTs. Couldn't tell which ankle was the bad one!! Bree (15pts) was a killer from the elbow and Sloot hit her with a pass every time she got close to the spot. Cappie (13pts) set screens for a couple of Sloots drives that were TV highlights. De Souza(13pts) played like she had been with the starters all year.
Gatling was the Storm sleeper in the 1st. half for 10 points and got 6 more in the 2nd. All in only 11 minutes playing time. She played a tough key while in the game. Pokey stayed with the starters with only short minutes for De Santos and Quigley plus in and out for the rest of the bench. Bench was good for only 11 points.
Game (great tickets behind the Sky bench) plus a few minutes for Sloot's hallway hello for the Zag fans makes the 300 mile each-way trip worthwhile

Glad we got the WIN! In the third quarter we built a big lead and let it slip away. We need to stop giving up big leads and letting our opponents back in the game. What sets this Sky team above Sky teams of the past is that after giving up the lead we got the it back and held on to win.

Another tough one coming up on Sunday....GO SKY!

The Sky are fortunate to have guards like Vandersloot, Quigley and Cappie.

Breland has really improved as a forward. She is deadly with her elbow shot in the paint. She does not miss. She also is pulling down the rebounds. Love her game, she is becoming a big part of the Sky team.
You can tell she is playing well because her team-mates are looking for her in the paint and will pass to her.

Bree was the player of the game along with Sloot...THEY WERE KEY!

EDD look really good but you could see she wasn't making any hard cuts on that ankle. I suspect she'll be at least 90% by tomorrow.

Beating The Sparks at home will be a tall order, but The Sky owes them.

THEY NEED TO BE ON THEIR GAME AND GET BACK ON DEFENSE!!!

P51D gave Gatling her props for the game. If Gatling had come into camp in shape, she *might* still be a member of The Sky.

She learned a valuable lesson and *almost* found herself out of the league.

Anyone notice the weight Gatling has lost???

You are right on here Woodie-Gatling looked and moved like a different person than we saw in Chicago. Saw her during warm-ups and didn't know who she was. She has to have taken off at least 40/50 lbs. Pokey cutting her loose must have been the wake-up call for her. Many players pass up the obligation to be in condition. Being in shape is what keeps some of the older WNBA players effective and all-stars. I see that Shoni Schimmel has also trimmed down somewhat and is getting more minutes and starts of late for the Dream.
